so if you have a mixed fraction you just add the extra numbers like 2 or 3 ?
-
True, the final result cannot be simplified but it can be turned into a mix number.

Thank you so much, that really HELPED!

Great Music.
After you finish the problem, Pennywise the clown stabs you to death and eats you.

What's with the ominous music? You want me to hate math more?? Fractions are selfish?

Isn't it easier to seek for the Least Common Multiple? I came up with 7/10 for this problem. Am I wrong? 3/2 + 4/5 = I searched for the LCM of 2 & 5 and got 10. Then I just added 3+4=7 I came up with 7/10. Let me know if I am wrong. I am just re-learning all this for my FTCE Test.

You answer is half right :) , this is what you do:
Find the LCM which is 10, then you have to divide 10 by 2 and multiply it by 3 and do the same with 5, then you get 5(3)/10 + 2(4)/10 = 15/10 + 8/10 = 23/10
You can make is a mixed number 2 3/10. Check out our other videos :)

You can reduce the final answer 23/10 as a mixed number 2 3/10, here I am posting an video how to do it

Remember that in order to add fractions the denominator needs to be the same for both fractions. Therefore once you multiply (5)(3)/(2(5) + (4)(2)/5(2), then you have 15/10 + 8/10 , since you have the same denominator now you can add the top and keep 10 as the same denominator 10.
Hope it helps!!!
Thanks for learning!!!
