  • Quetzalcoatl was not a central myth to all Mesoamerican Cultures. For one thing, Huitzilopochtli was the central god of the Aztec Hierarchy while Tezcatlipoca and Tlaloc along with the goddess Tonantzin were the main gods of the rest of the people. Outside of the Aztec world, Quetzalcoatl was either unknown or not important. In the Mayan world they had Kukulkan which was always a serpent. In most Mesoamerican lore Quetzalcoatl was never a man, he was a mythical feathered serpent.
