The Dambusters: A Dog Called Nigger

A tribute to the infamous censored character from the film 'The Dambusters' which was a true fact based WW2 film. Apparantly this film is being remade by Peter Jackson (Lord Of The Rings). I wonder how he will deal with the N word??

In those days, calling the dog nigger didn't mean that Guy Gibson was a racist. You smoked, drank and didn't worry about being politically correct or about Health and Safety and PPI insurance compensation etc.

If they kept the word the same then it would overshadow the film. The entire interesting and important story behind it would get lost. The dogs name isn't important to the plot unlike in Huck Finn. If the bomber were called cunt I think it would still be wise to change it.

This wasn't really uncommon. My grandfather named his dog nigger when he was a kid.

watched it on itv4 the other week it was called nigger, the term is used in kind hearts and coronets also,,eeny meeny miny mo catch a nigger by his toe,,,not funny its just another world we do not belong to
