Shomal in Persian Language (Farsi) means North, hence, The Shomal (North) Restaurant designed with a great architectural touch & operate with a Persian traditional way of hospitality to take you beyond North America into tradition north boundaries of Iran, where the famous Caspian sea's beluga's Caviar coming from.

The Shomal Restaurant establishment goes back to early 60s, when the grand family of current owner decides to provide the tourists and other visitors from Tehran and surrounding cities with their city's traditional cuisine (Soume'eh Sara) and exquisite taste of homemade Persian cuisine.

By immigration of the family to North America, The idea of creating Shomal (North) Restaurant in North America to serve not only Persian But other cultured people made the Shomal Restaurant a new friendly place for tourism and local visitors.

One of the reason that the Shomal (North) Restaurant is unique, is because of the Menu. I have been several times there. I personally like it, but for my family, whenever we went we felt shame. for example one side of kebab was burnt and since the burnt side was on the plate, the burnt could not have been seen. The other time my wife saw hair inside it. Of course we called the manager, but he said we do not have any body in the kitchen with this kind of hair. Another time we ordered koli(iranian small fish), it was chinese fish. It is unfortunately they can not control the quality.

I highly recommend Shomal restaurant to everyone. Best Gilaki food in North America! Here is a video of Kabab Torsh and Ashpal I made today. You can have this kebab at North Restaurant.

hi, this is great, I should make some correction

the first photo is not " Must Chekideh" it is " Must Khiar" which has cumumber.

and the photo which is right after salad should be " Kashk Bademjan" not " Bademjan Kabab"
