How to Fat Score Your Horse

Is your horse comfortably cuddly and does it really matter?

Our research with The Royal Veterinary College showed that 65% of ponies and 25% of horses in the UK are overweight.

We also found that many of us don't recognise 'fatness' in our horses because we tend to look their shape, rather than actually feel their shape (fat score). Did you know that for every increase in fat score (0-5 modified) your horse is six times more likely to suffer with laminitis?

As part of our springtime solutions campaign, we'd like you to join us in fat scoring your horse on a fortnightly basis, because it really does matter if he or she is 'comfortably cuddly'.
