Hey guys,

This is part 1 of me playing Final Fantasy XII using Open Playstation Loader. Still need to upload part 2, shouldn't be long. The area is the Nam-Yensa Sandsea, one of my fave places in this game :)

I copied the disc image direct from my dvd drive using ul_install.exe (it is included with the USB extreme tools, which you can read about and download here http://opl.psx-scene.com/usb_install.html). The hard drive is a 40gb Western Digital unit, in my octigen 3.5" slim drive enclosure.

I was having second thoughts about doing this (ripping FFXII), but I'm now so glad that I did. The game has been running almost flawlessly, apart from the FMV (as you can see from the intro). This is the first time I've used OPL, but I did have some more FMV problems shortly after but nothing that affected gameplay. Sorry I keep pausing to check the map, I just realised I hadn't explored this area and wanted to have a go round it.

I own an original copy of FFXII and use homebrew software like this purely to preserve the condition of my games and my console, and will also use it to play some imports sooner or later. If you need proof, I'll happily provide it.

Apologies also for the poor quality of this video, I'm still experimenting with my capture card but it is fairly old so i'm afraid this is the best I can manage for now.

  • thats a nice gameplay coming out from a usb hdd, nice man, it isnt that bad and it dont harm your ps2 lent, do you need a cd for play this??

  • @brttn2294 Hey mate, sorry for the late reply - no, once you've copied the game disc to the hard drive (I used my PC to do this using the instructions on the OPL website), you can play the game without a disc. It is pretty nice playing all the way through, although FMV tends to skip a lot :( Take care!

  • pendrive o HDD?

  • @maxiizzz USB HDD

  • Once you copied your game to your PC .. did you have to convert that .iso to use it with open ps2 loader ?

I am asking because i am really lost right now , There is NO tutorial about how to properly use Open ps2 loader .

I have soft moded my ps2 , all are the latest .elf . Open ps2 loader 0.7 .... all this are ok . My HDD formated FAT32 , and i got a game .iso inside (DBZ)

Any Emulator or Else recognize/see my HDD but when i am under Open ps2 loader it do not see the game . Any help ?

  • @sattanhellsing Hey man sorry for my late reply, I haven't checked this account since ever. I managed to play FFXII using opl by following the tutorial on opl.sksapps.com and that should have everything you need. Take care man

  • @townnet PS2 have usb 1.1 so it won't make a difference.

  • Will the cut scene get smooth if i use usb 3.0 HDD?

  • @transmit96 Does the games freezes Later in the game?
