  • @HeiligesReich2 No if you read the info, I stated it was footage from the Battle Of The Atlantic Commemeration in 1993.

A large number of Naval Ships from across the world attended. the fleet were anchored just off Anglesey to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Battle Of The Atlantic.

  • I served in the RNXS from 1972 till 1988, was Charge engineer at Chatham from 1975. Served on: Loyals Factor, Helper, Mediator and Watcher, IMS's Thakeham & Shipham, P20's Example & Explorer, MFV 1256 and the Amunition Class Tug Grapeshot with a few training sessions on Jonas Hanway. Had a brilliant time racking up three and a half months at sea in 1981. Hats off to Charlie Broom for filming this, it shows what some of us Daft buggers went to sea for! And well done all who served in the RNXS

  • I was here for this, the weather did suck. At least 2 ships lost their anchors. We nearly parted our anchor chain and bent our anchor.

I was onboard USS Scout (MCM-8) at the time. We ended up going into Liverpool early because of the weather and involuntary under way LOL.

Spent nearly 3 weeks in Liverpool. Was one of the best times of my life. Wish I could actually find a list of all the ships that were anchored out with us.

  • Good Video Chris, I would have given up "Course and Exercise" to be on that trip!. Its not as bad down south, but I've been on a few good channel crossings, Portisham, Moderator, Explorer. Happy Days

  • I was charge Engineer on Moderator on this trip, all the small vessles which were to be in the fleet review were ordered into port due to the bad weather.Watcher and Moderator were sent to Liverpool. I remember the trip well it's one of top 3 roughest trips i've been on. Colin Evans

  • @Gigagannet ROUGH!!!.......thats Harry Flatters is that. What would you do if that started to get choppy? Still those Loyal class tenders would roll on wet grass. Bit like the old Ham class sweepers RNXS used to use. :o)
