Anyeonghaseyo ^^
My name is Amelia, from Indonesia. my friend (Nyomie) and I decided to create this video in order to share our passion in Korean food with the whole world.
The story in this video is based on our true story. Nyomie, who was an exchange student for 1year in South Korea, knows how to cook tteokbokki. She told me that tteobokki was the first street food she tried when she was in Korea and immediately falls in love with it.
When she came back to Indonesia, she started to introduce it to other people (including me) and people also love it due to the uniqueness of the taste. Until now, Nyomie is still active in introducing Korean food to other people, not only tteokbokki but also other Korean foods.
In contrary with Nyomie, I discovered Korean food and culture only from Korean TV show. At first I didn't pay attention to Korean entertainment till I found about the famous Korean variety show "We Got Married" and finally hooked on it.
Not only fall in love with the program and the couple, I also fall in love with the culture. If I saw something new on that show, I always refer to Nyomie and ask her. That's why when I saw Yonghwa from CNBLUE and SeoHyun from SNSD ate tteokbokki on that tv show, my curiosity came up and really want to taste it. Luckily, Nyomie can make it and release my curiosity ^^
As we told before, tteokbokki has a very unique taste because the sauce is very different with any other sauces. It gives signature to Korean food. The chewed rice cake also gives different feeling to it. The other things that we like about tteokbokki is it easy to made and modified according to your own taste.
If you like chicken, just change the fish cake with it. If you like vegetable, just put it and if you like noodle, just add it. You are free to explore your creativity since the basic ingredient match with anything. So what are you waiting for? Just copy our recipe and cook it!!! ^^
