Life at the University of South Florida

The University of South Florida is located in the bustling Tampa Bay region -- just minutes away from the beach, amusement parks and a thriving downtown.

Established in 1956, USF continues to grow at a rapid pace. The four campuses house more than 40,000 students who study at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels.

USF is one of only three Florida public universities classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in the top tier of research activities, a distinction attained by only 2.2 percent of all universities. Recently, Sierra Club Magazine named USF as one of the 50 "coolest" universities on the planet.

USF reaches beyond its campuses. The Chronicle of Higher Education just published a list of organizations with the highest number of United States patents. USF was 9th among universities.
