What is Scripture? This study shows that when God speaks, His words are Scripture, and one can also say therefore that the Scripture speaks the words of God.
Thus Scripture is the Word of God because God's words are perfect, nothing can be added or taken away.
The LORD prophesied the Scripture to Abraham, and so the Scripture preached the gospel unto him.

It is very much like how Jesus Christ, the Word of God made flesh, proceeded forth and came from God, neither came He of Himself but God sent Him (John 8:42). Then He preached the Gospel unto us (Heb 2:3), they which are of faith being the children of Abraham (Gal 3:7, Rom 9:7-8)!

"And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed." Gal 3:8

"And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him." Gen 18:17-19

  • Many today have the false notion teaching that the Incarnate Word Jesus Christ is one Word and the written Word is another. But you cannot have two inerrant, infallible Words spoken of the same Person and they not be the same.Jesus the Incarnate Word is the written Word when the Spirit is revealing. There are not two Words one incarnate and one written, they are the same Word.Infallible Word, Jesus Christ, Written infallible, Word.Good message

  • @polopowers1 Amen, your phrase "Jesus the Incarnate Word is the written Word when the Spirit is revealing" reminds me of this verse:

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63

It's Jesus's Word (the Scriptures) spoken unto us by the Lord (the Spirit of Christ) that is the Word of God.

  • conclusion at 6:47 How can you say that the words spoken by God to Abraham existed "as Scripture" before they were spoken? Did you intend to use the word "scripture" to mean both the written works themselves and the events they record?

  • @Works101abel Yes, I believe your conclusion is valid. Read Gal 3:8, "And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed." Gal 3:8

Also, we know that events and indeed heaven and earth are upheld by the word of His power (Heb 1:3, Luke 4:32).

Slick, Enoch2, nice set-up, but no take down.

It should be noted that "Roman" was added to the name Catholic by the deformers in the 16th c. in order to distance themselves from Rome. Prior to

the apostasy, we were Catholics way back to the 2nd c.AD because Gnostics hijacked our name "Christian" which we were first called at Antioch. Before that we were simply known as "The Way", or the "Sect of the Nazarenes" by the Jews. It's our One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic Church in 1Tim3:15.

  • One truth; one God. Great message; thanks for sharing.

Being born again is not just about belief in Christ. As the Early Church believed, baptism is the point at which a person was born again.

Actually, "again" is not the best term, as the Greek "anothen" is better translated "from above" or "anew".

Do you know how the EC understood John 3:5 - "Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God"?

  • @Enoch2

Jonathan, you've spent years degrading God's Holy Catholic Church. Now is the time. Receive this word manfully and know that it was delivered in a spirit of love.

  • @TCA Yes, you're right, mocking & scorn can be part of righteous judgement. But you were speaking of the Holy Spirit, as if man could not know Him by coming to Jesus through faith in His Word.

There are many false, just as prophesied for this last time, but those who love God know Him (1 Cor 8:3).

"Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." Jn 14:17

  • @TCA I hear you say that when things didn't go at your speed, you turned to what you could grasp and men who gave you absolutes.

As you're Catholic, read Judith 7:23-25, 8:8-13 where she upbraids the men of her city for putting God on THEIR timetable!

Sure answers? 1 Cor 8:2. I know I'm growing IN the grace of God, understanding comes as Christ is formed in the believer (2 Pet 3:18). If you believe that Jesus saved you then you are born again too--return to the simple faith.
