If the heat made them sweat, it was the music that made them dance. Thousands of people flocked to downtown Riverhead for the 12th Riverhead Blues Festival.
Over 30 bands on three different stages entertained the crowd, while hundreds of vendors provided everything from micro-brewed beer, custom jewelry and cotton candy for the festival goers. This year's music schedule focused on blues and rock with a dash of traditional latin music and New Orleans flavored zydeco sound.
Event organizers said the festival attendance was lower than usual, but was still a success in raising money for its sponsor, The Vail Leavitt Music Hall, a local non-profit organization.
Standout artists from this year's festival include the Sean Chambers Band, Little Toby Walker, Heather "Lil Mama" Hardy and Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys.
