ASTOR is an autostereoscopic, optical see-through display for spatial augmented reality. The display works like an interactive, transparent window, which creates 3D overlays, thanks to the holographic optical element (no glasses needed).
The video starts with the principle for the system. It then shows "interactive visualizaion on an industrial lathe", where the workspace of an industrial CNC machine was filmed through the display. Our system monitors the CNC machine for process-specific data, and visualizes the information directly and in-situ in the workspace. Most importantly, the tool's cutting forces are visualized in 3D on the tip of the tool, in the place where they are measured, serving as a very intuitive feedback mechanism. As the feed rate of the tool is manipulated, we can observe the real-time changes of the force vector magnitudes.
