WOW Slipped Disk ... RIP..
I remember taking the train from Long Beach every Sat. w/ my good friend Charlie and others friends to buy the best collection of metal and punk on Long Island... Got to see Metallica on their first tour @ the Rio Theater across the street and at the in store appereance @ Slipped Disk in 83.... also met Slayer, Motorhead, Wasp, etc there... Great times.... And walking back to the LIRR and stopping by @ Ancona for a couple of Slices. Slipped Disk will be missed

I'm sorry to hear about Slipped Disc closing. I've been going there since the Rio Theater metal show days in the early 80's.

I remember l was living in Boston at the time and whenever I'd go to visit my brother out in NYC we would make the trek out to Slipped. When I was a late teen/early 20's I worked at Discomat records at Grand Central Station (before CD's !!!) so I was always a music/metal head...but I loved getting imports at Slipped !!!

Not to mention how cool Mike and Co. were to all us local metal bands ... my band Maelstrom, Cold Steel, and Kronin to name a few. They would always let us sell our demos through there and hang up posters for upcoming shows. That place was simply the best. Never anything like it then ... probably never will be again

I really miss this store. Since selling CDs in stores is practically impossible now, It would be great if Mike made Slipped Disc an online music store.

RIP. My favorite place in the world.

DUDE HOLY SHIT!!!!!!! i knew randy and mike and jesse for the longest time!!!!! like since the dawn of '90s!!!!!!!! it sucks that it closed!!! you figured the landlord would want to make some money instead of no money!! and dee snider and vinny vincent used to be there sometimes!!!! it was just a great little place!!! even if it just sold head shop stuff and did away with all the cds, it would have survived just as good today!! it just sucks that it's gone, it was valley stream's cbgb's!!!

sad to see Slip Disc is gone. I always thought it would be there... and to its credit, it lasted a long time...
Slip Disc should have been made a landmark. It was that important to Long Island's music scene.
I went there many times for music in my highschool days growing up in VS.
