I attended a Dhamma talk by Venerable Pemaratana this morning at the Buddhist Maha Vihara (BMV). It was refreshing to learn form him the techniques on how to handle stress. He explained basically to overcome stress, one should do 4 things. They are :-

1. Be energetic. You need to put effort to clear your work as come to you. Don't wait. The more you wait, the more the work get piled-up

2. Be diligent. You should carry-out your work responsibility. Put your heart into your work and enjoy it.

3. Be self discipline. Without restraint, you will add more problem. Therefore it's good if you discipline yourself.

4. Over come your emotion. This is the most vital. You should not be too bothered by praise and blame. Stay cool and you will have less stress.

Venerable emphasize a lot on item 4 above. In fact nearly 80% of today's talk was focus on this area. He advised us develop this quality.

Later, he taught us how to drink tea in a meditative way. I thought it was refreshing. I learned something useful today

I've learned how to take stress away while drinking my cup of tea. What a good day it has been for me today!
