ive been playing for about 6 years and i get so frustrated trying to alternate pick. i practice hours on and on and i cant get past like, 125 bpm. i feel like i just cant make my wrist move any faster than that, no matter how much i practice.

@austinfar practice, practice and practice. Don't try to rush, start slowly, you'll eventually get it and then you will be able to play as fast as him.

If you get a chance, come watch my "how to pick properly" (the first one) and it talks about muting. The other thing is make sure the guitar isn't too low when your playing while standing.

Great videos! A lot of help.
I have trouble, once I get to a certain speed (not all that fast!) my right and left hand always fall out of synch, and it just sounds really bad and totally disjointed. How can I get over this problem, as it's really annoying.

You need to be able to control both hands at the same time. As much as I hate to say it, you may need a metronome. It will help you to stay focused on the timing at any speed. I hated using mine, but it really helped.

When i play with fingers 1 3 4... my 3rd and 4th fingers are like locked ... they come up together...this normally happens when i play fast... any advice?

Hey Nuggs
I used to do that too. What I had to do was slow down and use a metronome (ugh, i hate those things). It was the only way I could fix it, that way I could just assign a 'click' to each finger.
Hope that helps!
