The rail grinder returns!

I heard over the scanner that a rail grinder was working around Oak Park, just East of Elmhurst. I drove in that direction and saw it sitting in River Forest, waiting for men and equipment to clear the tracks. As soon as he was good to go, I chased it through River Forest, Maywood, Melrose Park, all the way to Berkeley where Larry and Taylor joined in.

Note that the two blue units are ex. Amtrak F40PHs hodge-podged for Harsco. The camp cars are ex. Amtrak as well, I believe. The ultimate push-pull Amtrak train from hell!

  • perfect timing for the metra! HAHA!

  • @BoxcarFrank The camp cars are ex-GO Transit. They were built in 1967 for the then-new GO train service between Oakville and Pickering. There are also a bunch running around on Ontario Northland.
