Speed and alcohol are believed to have played a factor in an early morning fatal crash that killed three people. It could have been worse if not for the quick thinking of a witness to the crash.

The accident happened on North Detroit near Alexis in North Toledo.

Toledo police tell FOX Toledo News a pick-up truck pulled out of a nightclub and collided with a car around 2 a.m.

The three killed were Bradly R. Richardson Jr., 21, Bryan A. Richardson, 20, both of Toledo, and Noah E. McFadden, 23 of Sylvania. The three were passengers in the car.

The driver of the car, 21-year-old Noel Papenfuse and driver of the pickup, 68-year-old Paul Never remain hospitalized at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, both in serious condition.

The impact of the crash mangled the car beyond recognition and flipped the pick-up truck onto its side.

William Brown, a witness to the fatal crash, stopped to help. He noticed the car was still on fire.

"I was just pacing back and forth, like, is everybody okay?," he said. "I'm just pacing, I'm just yelling, asking anybody if they are okay, and nobody was answering me."

Moments later Brown heard noises coming from the car, and noticed the driver was trying to get his attention.

He got help, then started pulling Papenfuse out of the mangled wreck.

"He was telling me to hold up because his leg was hurting and I was just telling him 'Bro, I got to get you out this car because it's on fire, it's going to blow up on us,'" Brown said. "I didn't know nobody else was in the car."

"I just wish we could of got everybody out of the car," Brown added.

Detroit Avenue was closed for several hours for clean up and investigation.

The fatal accident remains under investigation.
