In 2003, ETS was banned in its birthplace, Sweden, due to overwhelming complaints by disabled patients. In 2004, Taiwanese health authorities banned the procedure on patients under 20 years of age.

  • I had ets done and it was good for about 3 yrs. Then compensatory sweating, I've had to change the way I live my life by bringing extra clothes or just avoid going out when it was hot. Dont believe the whole clamping procedure, you only have a short window to get them off and the side effects may still be there. If I could do this all over again, I would never even consider this procedure. I sweat all over my body now and missed numerous classes bc of it. My option is to move to a cool envirment

  • "NOT permanent." lol sure. When you clamp the sympathetic nerve it dies. DEAD. I have actually had ets. I know the REAL side effects of this bullshit surgery. ETS effects heart rate. Heat tolerance. Energy levels. Moisture in the skin. You surgeons are quakes. YOu sell a surgery that has SERious side effects and downplay them for money. The horrible side effects of sympathectomies have been know for over a hundred years.

  • do not go for this operation. im from south africa and went for this. my hands feet and underarms were dry. i was happy. now, every part of my body sweats. i cant go to work , interviews, the mall. its embarrassing. gonna try and get medication. my doc sed the reason for the sweating is coz the sweat has to come out somewhere !

  • @maggie741231 Your feet dry ? This procedure only stops sweating in hands

  • DO NOT HAVE THIS PROCEDURE! I had this procedure in Nov 2005. All my life, my hands & feet would drip with sweat. I awoke from surgery dry as a bone. I thought it was a miracle come true. Then I slowly began to sweat in the lower part of my back, then under my breast, then in my groin. It is now Nov 2011 and & only leave home if I absolutely have to do so. I sweat so profusely that I have to change clothes & bathe several times a day. BUT my hands & feet are dry! I wish for a do-over!

  • I need to have ets or something done bad!!! but i wont do it couse all the bad feed back ets has on here thanks guys for saving the inasint peaple that havent had the surgery. Really appriciate it

  • is this surgery a "cutting nerves" operation or "using titanium clamps" type? "titanium clamps" way is more safe but is that effective?

  • best option is ets? i need a permanent solution

  • someone talk to me pls im 26 y.o. pianist and i have seriously sweating problem. comments are "botox is bad" "ets surgery is crap" than what? in 2011 and we cant found a good solution for this tortuing problem? i dont want to try botox and ets surgery is not easy but i have to do something how about other ways? CO2 laser operation? iyontoforez?

  • LOL. I had this surgery done a few years ago. It's helped my hand sweating, A LOT. I'm glad I got it done. Though yes, Now i sweat on my back more especially in hot weather. But I'd rather have that than constant 24/7 sweat (even when I'm sleeping) on my hands.

  • @mcnabj Botox didn't work for me. It was horrible! Never again.

  • @mcnabj Botox was EXTREMELY painful and did NOT work for me. Horrific procedure
