The trouble started when a police officer spotted the 49 year old woman with cat cages in a parking lot. Then, when he looked closer, he noticed these were no ordinary cats.He figured they might be on their way to Mexico, so he stopped to ask Ashton some questions. She told him she was a representative of a wildlife refuge, but refused to answer any other questions. SOT: Mando Contreras, McAllen Police Investigator: "As the officer was trying to investigate what was going on she was very disruptive, she jumped from one of the vehicles and got into another one and that's what led to the charges against her." She bonded out of jail, but not before federal investigators got involved. They want to know if Ashton is part of a smuggling operation. What is going to happen with the Bengal Tigers now? How will they be treated? Will they find a good home? Will they be mistreated? Where did she obtain those animals? I think that the capital used in a war against hemp can be diverted towards preventing the sales of contraband animals. Who would want to purchase those endangered animals? It seems to me that her aquisition and her possession probably for sale of those exotic animals demonstrates more involvement on her part than we are told
