saw the Sands Family over twenty years ago in Glasgows Berkley st folk club on a Thursday night, they were promoting Colums CD the March Ditch, it was a fantastic experience, i'm 44 now and i've bought it on CD, then saw Ben at Glenfarg folk club a few years later, songs like this are brilliant and sad, as we can all relate to just meeting someone like this at some time in our lives, we could have married them but we never saw them again, maybe it was for the best, who knows?
