@chigal09 Do you know why Royce Gracie (former UFC champion) chose to wear a Gi instead of going shirtless? Defensively speaking an opponent will not know if their strike will connect. They have to get in and get close because of the gap between the garment and body. Bad idea for close quarters. Offensively, sometimes you can't get your arm in certain places, you can lock/restrain someone in with your garment as well as choke them. Also, they're pretty damn smart. Read up if doubtful.
