I really worry for the women's game when the Williams retire. Serena is the best in the WTA followed by her sister. Its no even a debate. The ranking system is a joke as your getting women with no majors surrounding the top spot. Thank God the ATP is not in similar crisis. As for this interview is it hilarious. I couldn't care less if she seems insulting, she has earned the right to be smug.

Serena is clearly mocking the WTA ranking system, and not disrespecting Dinara. The ranking system is solely in place to determine the players who are most consistent. Serena did not play that many tournaments that year so she shouldn't be "#1", although I truly feel she is the best player of this generation.

I dont think she is trying to insult Safina. This is a criticism about the WTA tour. It is quite weird that you can be no 1, although you dont even play in the final of a major.
