what would i use for a 1986 Panasonic omnivideo??
TONYE17 1 year ago
@TONYE17 You want 2 buy a red rock lens adapter but you want to put it on 1986 1/2" mag tape camcorder? A $200 flip camera, with compressed hi def video, has 4 times the res as 1/2" mag tape and none of the distortion! Upgrade your gear one thing at a time. The red rock package seen here costs $2400 plus nikon lenses. If you're not serious about camera work just stick to mag tape. Upgrade your camera to at least a canon T2i with zoom lens if you want selective depth of field at under $1K.

Would i be better off using a Canon 7D camera for all my DoF stuff seams easier than buying all this equipment now that Canon offers video in their smaller cameras such as the rebel and 7D. The only issue i would have is gathering my audio if there was any, but i would use something different to capture that. What is your take on those types of cameras and lenses over the bigger camera's with all these adapters? I have been able to produce some nice things with the rebel and 7D that look similar

@jade041203 First, RRLA solves the problem for vid cams. Once SCARLET comes out, RRLA is truly legacy. Not only audio is a problem on DSLRs but so is compression. Still cams in movie mode compress the hell out of the image. If you are serious, get a RED ONE. If you cant afford the RED ONE sub rent until you can. Dont buy into DSLRs The models are changing so fast its not worth the money. The downside to ALL the DSLRs is that they are still SLR not motion picture cameras and no MoPIc features.
