RedState.org founder and CNN contributor Erick Erickson started 'We are the 53 percent' to mock the 'We are the 99 percent' and related Occupy Wall Street movements. The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

  • @MarcusKiner Average teacher salary? About 40K. Average Doctor salary around 250K give or take. Average salary of US army general? About 15K per month. Average CEO salary these days? About 11 mil. Clearly blows the first three out of the water. You actually going to sit there and tell me that a teacher, a doctor, or a general in the US Army doesn't work as hard as a fat cat corporate CEO? Get the fuck out of here and don't come back.

  • @mariosumo For the record, I work 40 plus hours a week on a job that pays 35grand a year salary, I have a college degree in computer science which I paid for by working three separate jobs and student loans which I owe the govt $30,000 on. I got to this point without help from my "oh so rich dad", but you know something? Fuck if I care what dickhead trolls like you think. I could be the 53%, but I'm not stupid like you. I AM the 99%.

  • All money is created as INTEREST BEARING DEBT! And you wonder why we're in debt? People wanna bitch about taxes and this and that. Why don't you look at how our financial system actually functions and then you'll understand why it breeds corruption.

  • Cenk is whatever percentile Al Gore tells him to be.

  • And you seem to think taxes are the only thing to spur job growth or stop it. Of course job growth during high taxes tells us nothing, unless we know what the jobs were, how much was being collected per tax-payer, etc (etc stand in for a big list). Government spending is also a good thing to keep in prospective, as an increase in government employees/aid is not good job growth. The fact remains the US government has become too big, and is not doing the job it was meant to.

  • @atmdusty

erm... look at the history of the USA. No negative correlation between tax increases and job growth. No negative correlation between tax increases and economic growth. The years with the highest job growth in the USA are the ones with the highest income tax for top earners and highest corporate tax. Before Regan income tax went as high as 94% for top earners. No negative effect on the economy. The vast majority of corporations only pay a fraction of the actual corporate tax.

  • @PIXELEDsamm Conservatives aren't much better.

  • America, fuck yeah!

  • It isn't wall-street that is killing the USA, it is the government that is over taxing its people and a lot of people who do nothing but live off the government. There is 1% that is rich, not all of them are politicians, but all politicians are part of the 1% or close to. That alone should tell you something.

  • @Nebuli2

Yeah, I would have to agree with you there. I can't imagine either of the candidates doing any good for America. God, I hope for your sake that none of the republican candidates become president.
