Another video tip from Drivinghelp.com

Note how the pedals are used during the stop. The brake is pressed first, then the clutch goes down just before the car stops. The pedal sequence is important - the examiner will look for that.

  • u forgot the hazard lights

  • @mlps93 No need to use hazard lights for the driving test.

  • i had an emergency yesterday , im a new driver about 4 months in now.

the fog was bad enough that you didn't see 20 feet infront of the car.

    i was doing 80km ,, about 35 miles.

a car was parked infront of a light without his lights on.

so he popped out of the fog.

i stood on my brake ,, the car started stuttering even with the clutch down fully.

i was able to change lanes before i hit the car.

whats the best braking procedure so the don't lock up ? and is it okay to use the handbrake for this ?

  • @Schyzofrenic87 No - don't use your handbrake, that would make matters worse! It sounds like you did pretty well anyway, as you had the presence of mind to avoid the car. To avoid locking up, use cadence braking - this is 'pumping' the brake pedal as you slow down. If your car is reasonably new, though, it should have ABS which does this for you. Meanwhile, if you had to swerve you may have been going too fast for the conditions. You must always be able to stop well within your seeing distance.

  • ive been told not to apply the handbrake but simply look around then pull away

  • @amiga512k You should secure the car after you've stopped. That means pulling on the handbrake and selecting neutral.

  • @LaKuPuLa I meant "if road is dry stomp on the brakes"

  • @DrivingHelp If you don't have ABS you should NEVER PUMP the brakes. ABS avoids lock by engaging and disengaging the brakes dozens of times per second. You can't do that unless you are freaking Superman. If road is wet, stomp on the brakes. If not, try to brake as hard as possible without losing control. Best advice: get ABS installed.

  • The man checking for hazards is not the same fella releasing the hand brake

  • looks like somebdys driving licence got wat too delayed :D

  • @DrivingHelp B.S

  • "Ok when your ready, drive away" "Sleeps for 3 days" OK IM READY LETS GO!!!
