Satan and Adam harpist Gussow talks about his own youthful journey into the blues, surveys three excellent blues harmonica websites, and talks about the purpose of this channel. Bonus: Gussow plays the head of "Morning Song," an unrecorded original in the spirit of Sonny Rollins's "St. Thomas." UPDATE: in response to overwhelming popular demand, I have created my own harp website, MODERN BLUES HARMONICA:

If you'd like to purchase a copy of my new solo album, KICK AND STOMP (2010), please hit the following link. Only $10 for 14 tracks of harp-powered one-man band music, all for instant download. Liner notes included!:

  • How much are YOU paying for marine band these days?

  • @tictoctictoc07: It varies. I'm a Hohner endorser. Sometimes I buy direct from them for $21.50. Sometimes I buy from Rebel Music here in Oxford for around $29. Sometimes I phone up Rockin' Ron's and get them for somewhere in between those two rates.

Your turn. How much do you pay?

  • I most definitely am interested in seeing songs you have tabbed

  • Well, there are a lot of them! Go to "the store" at Modern Blues Harmonica (dot) com. The hundreds of emails (literally) that I've gotten tell me that my way of tabbing--and teaching my tabs--produces remarkable results.

  • You have a horrible haircut

  • hello adam! first of all, thank you for these precious lessons! they're just awesome..

I'm confused about the harp-type.. you said, special 20s don't have a good sound, hohner marine bands are okay! i have a "hohner special 20 marine band"..is that the special 20 you're talking about? because I felt comfortable with it and bought a few of them.. after seeing this lesson, I'm afraid that I've thrown my money down the drain.. (In switzerland a harp costs nearly $50 and i'm a "poor" student ^^)

  • Very cool philosophy.. A lesson in Tao.. If you want to contain something, you must let it expand;Give it away.

Should you want to take something away, you must first grant it full access. It is called the lesson of obscurity

    I like your style.

I need to check your website out.

  • @KudzuRunner

Gosh......l bought my first marine band (but not my first harp) for around $40, which I bought at the guitar center in Fayetteville, Arkansas last year. I think thats what i paid for it. Harp prices up here in Missouri must be crazy.

By the way it didn't even cross my mind the you were a hohner endorser%Proxy-Connection: keep-alive

Cache-Control: max-age=0 even though I knew you were

Sorry if my reply confuzed you slightly b
