  • I've never had a Dominican cigar before, only usually smoke Cubans, are they worth the effort or do they not compare?

  • well...many cuban cigars are of original domincan leaf /seed tobacco. Cuba has a littel nastier soil (ph) which gives it that full dark robust overpowering specifically cuban flavor. There are more varieties in Domincan due to the climates. Opus X will kill most Cubans - but really good cubans dominate the globe - just have to try them all >:~)

  • dude, you might have smoked a few cigars in your lifetime but you know nothing about cigars.

  • Who are you talking to?

  • dan3232 it sounds like you have never smoked a real cuban cigar like most of us Americans theres so many fakes going around... a lot of people get tricked into thinking there smoking a real Cuban. nothing can ever beat a real habanos.

  • Until I buy one in Cuba direct I am afraid I am going tohave to agree with oyu. I have bought many that were"cuban" for reputable places in canada, bermuda and the bahamas and less reputable dealres in Costa Rica and Panama and have always been skeptical - so I agree with you and am looking forward to the true thing! in the meantime i'll have to stick with my opus x i guess

  • Mm yummy cigars

  • Sooooooo. Fake that's not bye hand is it

  • @dan3232 Opus X is a marketing marble ,not a world class cigar, Carlos and Carlito have done an incredible job of making you think they are the best, but for a few lucky Us, i have had over 7000 cigars so far and by far i can make lists to the end of the world of better cigars than the Opus x.

You are also wrong about (many)Cuban cigars being of Dominican seed, it is the other way around Cuban seed is the world standard .

Dominican cigars are for the lighter smoker, Cuban cigars are for real man

  • Dan3232 knows his stuff. The rest of you are morons, foreign and domestic.

The best Dominican cigars are made with Cuban seed and rival the best Cuban cigars. When Castro took over, he nationalized everything, including the cigar factories. The owners fled with seed and started over in the Dominican republic. Soil isn't as good, but it was amended. After the cold war, the Cubans couldn't even get fertilizer. Look at top ranked cigars only a few are Cuban nowadays.

  • @ShapeshifterMusic

i was in mexico a few years back and picked up a box of "cohiba's" for about $25, ofcorse i didnt know what the hell i was buying and purely brought them to say "i got some cuban cigars" even though i didnt smoke at the time, the wooden box says Habana, Cuba and Totalmente a mano, with a silverish habana seal and greenish (import?) seal on the box, also brought some "guantanamera 5 decimos" for around the same price from a habanos shop, the latter taste better.....

  • What so good about smoking cuba? i always wonder? can someone tell me whats soo good about it ?

  • Ha, these are Fauxhibas! Cohibas from the El Laguito factory are the only ones I'll smoke.

  • @yayobrain The irony in your comment is amazing... I'm not from the states I'm Australian.

  • @Timski97 If your form the states your the biggest fucking moron walking...

  • Sorry to but in here but living in Australia where one can get Cuban cigars eazy let me say this: I don't really smoke any more (too expensive now) I did smoke cigars for many years. Whilst the very best Cuban cigars are very hard to beat there are a LOT of dud cigars out of Cuba eg. too tightly rolled, not aged enough etc. (you don't need fakes to get a bad Cuban) If you live in the US there is still many fine smokes you can enjoy! The top line Padrons are VERY good!!!
