13WHAM News this Morning shares a sample of the activities and exhibits planned for Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival taking place at Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday, May 2, 2009.

Anchors: Tomorrow from 10 to 5, you can head to RIT and see some exhibits and performances, all part of the Imagine RIT festival. Doug Emblidge is there this morning. He has a preview of some of what you'll be able to see.
Doug: Well I'm imaging right now a field house and a campus filled with 17,000 to 20,000 people. In fact, that imagining will come true tomorrow. It's the second Imagine RIT and it really has sent home the message about what RIT is all about. It's a real big deal for this campus, and you're invited to come. Barry Culhane, chairman of the festival, how big a deal is this festival to the school?
Barry: Well, it's our second year, and President Destler had this idea that imagination, innovation and creativity. We have over 2,000 students, faculty and staff showing everything. It's free and open to the public, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., free admission, free parking. The only thing you have to pay for is your food.
Doug: Describe what it is. It's really a way for RIT to show off its stuff.
Barry: Absolutely, it's where the right brain and left brain come together, its where art and glass blowing and software engineering, math and science all come together. You get to interact with people who do this everyday and find out what college is all about.
Doug: I'm wondering if the parents who bring their young ones, if some of those young ones might get the seed planted that RIT might be a place that I want to go someday. Is that part of what's involved?
Barry: No question. We've really reached out to K-12. We want families to come. It's very kid friendly. All of the exhibits are all interactive at all different levels.
Doug: And the field house is kind of the epicenter but it's taking place from one end of the campus to another.
Barry: It will be from NTID to east to west and the whole campus. More than 400 exhibits and the place will come alive.
Doug: You mentioned the left brain right brain, and we need some of that art. I'm going to step over here and meet the ladies. Thank you, Barry. Where's Sydney? Hi Sydney! You're with Encore.
Sydney: Yes.
Doug: Now we've done a lot of these a cappella groups at schools around town and they're always guys.
Sydney: Yeah, there are 3 guy groups and we're the only female a cappella group on campus.
Doug: But can you sing louder than all 3 of the guy groups combined?
Sydney: Oh yeah.
Doug: Now you're all different years and different majors and all that kind of things. How long has Encore been part of the campus life here?
Sydney: A long time. I'm not sure of the exact number of years.
Doug: Before you got here.
Sydney: Yeah.
Doug: And you're what a third-year student?
Sydney: Third year.
Doug: Okay, I'm going to imagine that you're singing tomorrow at Imagine RIT, is that correct?
Sydney: That's correct.
Doug: Okay, and I'm going to imagine that you're going to sing right now, and you're doing a song by...?
Sydney: Kansas.
Doug: Okay, here' we go. Carry On.
