Final Fantasy VII Piano Collections
No sheet music requests please.

-------------------------------

Here's a wonderful song which was already requested a couple of times: Tifa's Theme. Known from both the game, Piano Collections and the movie "Advent Children".

If you are interested, this song has a special meaning for me. In fact, it was the beginning of Final Fantasy music and consequently a reason for me to purchase a (digital) piano.

In Summer 2006, I was not much into Final Fantasy. I then began to play FF8, and as I was fascinated by the game, I found out there was also a new Final Fantasy movie: Advent Children. It was when I watched the film that I heard Tifa's Theme. I don't know when I exactly got the original recording, but I didn't know there existed the so called "Piano Collections" with its sheet music. The song fascinated me, and I began to transcribe it on my own, based on the original recording. I did quite well, and a few weeks later, I discovered the whole Piano Collection albums. I was thrown into a whole new world regarding music. As I played more Final Fantasy pieces, I kind of felt limited on my keyboard soon, the instrument I had learned 11 years. Finally, in November 2006, I got my wonderful piano, and since then there is no day I don't play on it =)

Yeah, everything began with this song. A wonderful one ...

Now let me tell a bit about this performance. I played this time with a bit more mellow piano, which results in a worse audio quality on YouTube. Looks like YouTube doesn't like my mellow piano :o However, if you like my performance, you can of course download the high-quality MP3 from my website ( http://arkton.modcraft.net/ ), so please don't mind the audio in the video.

It could also be that I overdid rubato a bit, hehe, I played very freely this time. But I like it ;-)

So, enjoy this lovely piece. I hope you like my interpretation!
Greetings

  • @bor09mex I did both: reading while playing, but of course also practising it beforehand =) Thanks!

  • Unlike so many videos of people playing piano on youtube, you can really hear how this player puts feeling into every note. You don't even need to watch, you can just hear how the most tiny of pauses contribute and convey so much more emotion. The mark of a great pianist - I salute you, sir.

Exquisite. No other words for it.

  • enjoy!

  • @2000firefly why not try ebay? ;)

  • dammit there is no more final fantasy 7 English version games sold any more! *sob*!!!

  • I wish this way a kingdom melody...beautiful :,)

  • you are so great...

  • so jemand deutsch

  • @weterr123 You should try, the FF series itself is truly a mastepiece along with its music, gameplay, graphics, etc. Imo Nobuo is considered Mozart of video games, all themes that he composed fit perfectly well with the games.

  • Your interpretation is the best I've ever heard - I actually prefer it to the Piano Collections version. I hear slight discrepancies in comparison (good ones!) and so it from your video and mp3 that I am learning this (I'm actually marking the changes on the sheet music I have LOL). No, you did not over do the rubato. Fantastic job. One more thing - I have never played the game - it is through this that I'm about to - right now!! I hope it's similar to games like Phantasy Star IV - retro RPG!!

  • Absolutely perfect... God that game was good. This song, coupled with Cloud and Tifa's past and what happened later in the future as they got stronger could bring any fan of FF7 to their knees... Great work my friend :)

  • @ChroMarx Not to mention they have absolute pinpoint precision in their timing. A lot of amateur pianists I listen to on youtube get their timing just slightly off. Listening to something as accurate as this, that still has immense feeling... It's beautiful
