  • i respect his attempt at recording all Liszt's work, but his renditions are generally horrible....all those bangings and ugly tones -_-

    have yet to meet a pianist who actually likes his set other than considering it as a reference of Liszt's work.

  • i feel nothing but reverence for one who learnt and PERFORMED the entire liszt rep!

  • @OrangeSodaKing I may have to recant my earlier statement. I've recently encountered several live Liszt performances that refute the notion that he's unable to 'bang'...

  • @brtherjohn Haha, well the problem in this video is not the pianist, but the composition.

  • Go to one of his recitals and you will appreciate his sensitivity and virtuosity. He would have to be one of the greatest piano talents and is performing at his peak. He reminds me of Arrau.

  • Leslie - banging? Hardly. He rarely produces a truly dramatic fortissimo. Evidence is right here in this performance. The notes are there and yet no drama...
