You will need:
Grids
Cable ties/ grid connectors
A shower curtain
Duct tape
Scissors

In feet, my cage is 8.1 ft. x 4.75 ft....If only the grids were 12 in. x 12 in. !

  • @SpaceNerdGirl It won't. As long as you change the fleece every week and clean underneath the fleece, it's going to be perfectly fine. It would only start to mold if you didn't clean it at all for multiple weeks...which is animals cruelty. Not saying you're an animals abuser, just making a point haha <3 :D

  • @ShadowwolfXFoxy You really aren't supposed to use a water dish for guinea pigs.

    Just get a water bottle!

  • nice shirt lol

  • @meyouandthepiggies my guinea pig is the first one i got, and so knew nothing at first, he gets hours of lap time and floor time and so yes, he is happy. but i think we should stop arguing and care for our pigs ;) im actually trying to make a big cage on my bedroom floor for him so its all good :) haha. i guess we will always have different views and thats fine. arguement over, its taking up time for nothing x lol

  • @amy1teto1jazzie1 I don't think "I'm better" b/c I have a big cage...I just think that when you're looking for supplies when you get a guinea pig, you should realize they need a cage @ least 2 x 3 in grids. It's not luck... if you don't have room to care for your animal, you shouldn't get an animal, plain as that.

Guinea pigs will be *okay* in a pet store cage if they have AT LEAST 2-3 hours of floor time a day. As long as you do that, I'm sure your guinea pig is perfectly happy and healthy :)

  • @amy1teto1jazzie1 Actually, I kinda of am an "expert"... I have a family full of veterinarians and shelter owners. I'm sorry, but the people who design the cages are ANYTHING but experts. Their goal is to earn revenue. Why do you think there are so many products "designed for guinea pigs" that are actually really dangerous (yogurt drops, leashes, exercise balls, etc.) I'm not looking down on people with small cages, I know for a fact it's unhealthy.

  • @meyouandthepiggies 'borderline cruelty' ? your not some expert, but the people that design cages are. i have a pet store cage. my guinea pig is very happy and healthy, this i know. i hate people like you that think just cause youve had some pigs and have had the LUCK to have room for a big cage that it meens you can look down on people with smaller cages. its just plain rude. i gave a guineapig an amazing home. go to umi41's channel, watch the vids. would you rather mine had an owner like that?

  • @amy1teto1jazzie1 Obviously that's not what I'm saying. If someone ignores their guinea pigs, of course they won't be happy (they'll be dead).

But with two average owners, one with a pet store cage (which I feel is borderline cruelty) and one having a large cage, the one in the bigger cage will not only be happer, but it will be healthier and live a longer life (because of amounts of stress). I think that if you can't get a big cage, you shouldn't get a pig! Floor time helps, but isn't the same.

  • @meyouandthepiggies so your saying if someone had a massive cage in an old dusty garage and never payed any attention to their pigs that those guinea's are happier than pigs in a smaller cage with an owner that spends as much time and money on their pigs as they can? happieness isnt about cages, it's about standard of care.

  • @amy1teto1jazzie1 Actually, that's exactly what it means!

  • @meyouandthepiggies a bigger cage doesnt always mean happier piggies.
