I am paraphrasing a line from The Godfather Part II: Democrats worked with him, Democrats did business with him, but Democrats never trusted him. I will never understand why those Dems in the Senate like Reid, Boxer, Durbin and the rest actually did trust the guy. When push came to shove, when the screws were turned, he always would run back to the right-wing of GOP.

Most republicans can't admit when they're ideology has failed, or maybe they just have too much to gain from perpetuating the lies. Either way, Arlen has the sense to vote how he thinks his constituents would want. That's why he votes with Obama, because he knows the people in his state want him to.
