Was playing around with a sound on the R3 and through the KP3 together resulting in a nice thick ambient sound that I really could have gotten lost in.

Music & Video By: Daniel Springs

This was just a quick shot video and I look forward to using the sound and the ambient background track I prepared in a recording very soon.

The Roland SP-555 was only used as an audio interface and the Akai apc-40 was used to trigger the ambient loop I previously prepared for the video.

I will use this same sounds in the live set this coming Saturday as well Live on BlogTV.

  • hey mate...can you use the APC40 for live beatboxing loops? and hook it up to a kaoss pad for the effects? iv already got my KP3 and im thinking about the akai as my next purchase if it does live looping.

  • @BrothaPriah Tha Akai APC40 is a Mixer/Controler for Ableton Live.

With that said, YES you can hook a pedal to the the APC40 to trigger the sampler mod in Ableton for 'On the fly' loops'. NO you cannot place the KP3 between the APC40 and your soundboard. Again, the APC40 only controls the Ableton Live Software. But I SOOOOO recommend it if you use Ableton Live!

  • Great sound! I purchased an R3 myself and want to add the KP3; may I ask about the machine to the far left that you first touch while playing? Is that a mixing board or something else? I need a new mixing board anyway; mine is cheesy. I want to play ambient too; although I am a Bass player primarily.

  • @zenjim007 It is called an: Akai APC40 constructed as a USB controller for Ableton Live. a great device. You can find many videos here on youtube about it, but You wont find anyone else using it for ambient music. (I could be wrong!) Mostly Dj's use it to mix samples, beats and songs. I will put a few videos up on my other channel soon showing it off (muzictech is the YT channel name. I just started it and have yet to put up gear reviews)

  • Nice work friend. I will be purchasing an R3; After playing on one tonight in guitar center for an hour and a half. The store was closing. So my search into synth design was stopped short. Just wanted to say thank you for playing something of quality on the R3 been through at least 60 videos tonight looking for a performance that actually showed the quality synths that are obviously obtainable inside this machine. I knew the R3 was a gem. Cant wait to be alone for days!. R3 is a Workhorse Beast!

  • @tjlocati Thank you for your comment. You will not go wrong with the R3.

  • Cool stuff, man. Just goes to show that you don't necessarily need tens of thousands of dollars worth of studio equipment to create cool and interesting music. I think a lot of people would be amazed what you can do with even just a Monotron and a basic drum machine. Well done.

  • thats what im talking about

  • Very Blade Runner-esque. I like it. One of the best and most useful videos featuring the R3.

  • Movie score.
