Changing Earth Song

Here is a song I created to help my 6th grade students study. I hope you enjoy.

You would not believe your eyes
15 billion years go by
Creating the world and all you see
Big Bang filled the open air
And left gasses everywhere
Was quite a view
5 million years ago there

I'd like to make you all believe
That planet Earth changed slowly
'Cause over time this cloud of dust
Began to set and shrink
Creating everything from land and seas

Thin cover layer's the crust
Then mantle churns and it thrusts
Convection currents looks like a dance
Below are both of the cores
The mantle is the outer
A disco ball the solid center-inner

I'd like to make you all believe
That planet Earth changed slowly
'Cause over time this cloud of dust
Began to set and shrink
Creating everything from land and seas
And everything you see

The icy comets made a splash
(That's how life was started here)
And asteroids rained down with a crash
(That's how life was started here)
Simple life forms came from the deep
(That's how life was started here)
Tiny organisms came out to creep

Over millions of nights
The climate changed over time
Ice ages glaciers carving our ball
As Earth was forming out there
The continents split from Pangaea
Sea floor was spreading out the land away
