Minecraft Tutorial - Spider Trap (Drowner) 100% Drop Rate [HD]

This trap works only with the regular spiders, not the smaller Cave Spiders as those can get through 1 block wide hole. Normal spiders need 2x2 block space. This is a spawner trap with 100% efficiency. There are no spots where strings get stuck and because this trap does not use lava or fire, none of the strings get destroyed. I made the drowner over 8 blocks away from the spawner so the spiders waiting to be killed do not have an effect on the spawning. (Minecraft Wiki: "If 6 or more monsters of its type are present within a 17 x 17 x 9 area centered on the spawner block, the spawner "poofs" without creating a monster and then waits for the next interval.")

Does this work if you are standing on e opposite side of the trap?

@Th3blur22 I think it won't because spiders can follow the player through walls and if you stand on that side they won't get into the drowner (at least that fast). And items disappear after a while so you might not get the strings after being afk.

If you want the eyes and experience, just stick another sign on the wall directly across from your "AFK Zone" and stand in the space this dries up right outside the doorway. Then just whack at 'em with your sword. :)

hey man thanks i just made this trap and it works great the one question i had was do u have to kill the spiders your self to get the spider eye or will this trap get those also
