In this video, Athena shares her secrets about how to relieve and loosen tight, sore shoulders and neck muscles. She talks about the importance of good posture and strengthening muscles of the abs, core and back to help hold you up and prevent strain on your upper back.

Athena also addresses the importance of getting massage work on a regular basis to relieve stress, pain, correct postural or structural issues and in general to maintain optimal health in the body. She also describes how stress and pain in the body can affect our emotions and cause us to be depressed, agitated, impatient, etc. because our stress hormones are always raging.

These massage tips will help you give a relaxing, healing massage and can help you provide specific relief for tight, sore, stiff muscles in the neck and shoulders.

For a true relaxation massage, it's important to respect the body. Deep relaxation from massage may require several techniques- Swedish, Deep Tissue, Spa, Soft Tissue, Lymphatic Drainage, etc.

  • Athena is just sharing a very basic stream-of-consciousness view that the majority of western people don't take very good care of themselves, and that we remain willfully ignorant of ways we can make ourselves feel better every day. She's not even saying anything crazy; just to "eat healthy food, enjoy indulgences in moderation, exercise and invest in the kind of self-care you might deny yourself because you think you don't have the resources". Not preachy, just good advice.
