Close up view of the recoil escapement, with driving weight varying from 7 ounces (198 grams) to 2 pounds 10 ounces (1191 grams). This is an early Seth Thomas weight driven 30 hour OG, made about 1845.

  • This is very good. I thought the idea is to use the least amount of weight for the least amount of ware of the parts? Wouldn't the maximum power be transferred when there is no excess movement or click after each pallet realeses? And then it would be quieter too.

  • This was strangely relaxing. And I'm glad to see you have more vids.

  • Again thank you for excellent and interesting footage.

  • Wow, what a difference.
