Zenon the Dead Rat

It's hard to make a rat lie on back. Zenek is the only which loves it. :D

To answer some questions:
1. Zenek is alive in this movie, he lived in good health for almost a year after the movie was taken. You can actually see he's moving his moustache and grabbing his hoomin's finger.
2. Zenek was a lab rat, one of millions of genetical mixes.
3. Zenek was extremely smart (most of rats are) - if he didn't like it he would have ran away and hide.

@dreamera1 When I took my rat to the vet to get its tumor removed the vet said that tumors are common in fancy and albino rats, spaying or neutering them at an early age is the best way to avoid tumors. It doesnt have to do with bedding and litter.

My male rat would lie on his back for hours at a time. He'd sleep and even eat like that. Finally, I trained him to flip on his back on command, and he would. He positively loved having his fat belly rubbed, too. Most rats are actually quite comfortable in this position, as when they are with other rats, many times they flip on their backs so the others can groom them.

@slix1991 Ignorance! DO some research before you judge them! You could say the same about keeping ANY kind of pet.. It is ignorance like this that stops people having the pleasure of having any kind of family pet.

I'm pretty sure it means a rat trusts you a lot if it lets you pet it while on it's back.
