this is very strong playing for a live performance.

You need to get yourself a hearing aid! what's with "tempered with" and "edited" - just come out and say this is an excellent performence!
-
@pianoreview What kind of self-appointed and self-professed wannabe critic and expert are you? You comment is extremely funny but also inane! why keep repeating "if this has not been edited"? you are a fool!
Pavel's performence is wonderful and very compelling! his is in the tradition of Horowitz, his interpretation absolutely delivers pure E-T No 9, and he shows great clarity and phrasing - wonderful playing!

If this performance has not been edited, one has to give the young man credit to be one of few pianists to be aggressive in this work. We know from Rachmaninoff's own performance of his music that he liked brisk tempos. Also, there is some warmth in the playing here, it is not simply typewriting execution. Is he one of today's great pianists - maybe not. But, it certainly is refreshing to hear first class Rachmaninoff if this recording has not been tampered with.

You know what I hate? Smartasses. If you don't feel adressed, then it's exactly you who I mean.

Great performance!!

i think that regarding the tempo, this is the best performance from youtube! Ashkenazy of course plays more accurate...but pavel raikerus did a great job in a very fast tempo
-
also check out Ashkenazy and Lugansky
there are far better performances out there, shaped to perfection (insofar as Rach had intended)
Great pianist! I also love Ashkenazy's interpretation.
