The late Hamza el-din was a Nubian-Egyptian musician who had performed with the likes of The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan. He is considered to be the father of contemporary Nubian music. This clip shows him playing a taqsim on one of THE most BEAUTIFUL Nahhat ouds I've seen. You can see pictures of it on his website www.hamzaeldin.com.

  • Silly comments, Hamza is a Nubian (people/tribe) there was an area in Egypt that stretched into modern Sudan (much of N. Africa used to be called the Sudan) that area was called Nubia by some, at other times the whole area was called KMT (Kemet) or Ethiopia and many other names by various peoples. Hamza was something else too... a Master and a beautiful Human being that I am so happy to have met. Allah bless you.

  • hello youboob. do you know if there is a video with the complete takasim????.or if it is from a specific song????????

  • love this man.

  • One of my favorite artists of all time.. thanks for putting this up! Love it!

  • This is the second of Hamza's groundbreaking Vanguard discs, every bit as forceful today as they were when they were released. Al Oud is perhaps Hamza's most aggressive recording, playing with a fervor that ignites love in even the hardest of hearts

  • in fact steve vai will kneel in front of him, or eddie van halen at that. repeatitive music at it`s highest form, even a worm can sleep while listening to this piece.

  • Good on you for mentioning the true Egyptians. We Copts have been in Egypt long before the "slims". Long live the holy church of Alexandria.
