I don't remember where I got this quote, but it seems to make even more sense to me since I have seen this video and some of the others in the series.
"Always be yourself because the people that mind don't (really) matter, and the people that (really) matter don't mind." ;-)

I have been saying "Existence is Futile"
but I have Learned to Avoid Most Things
including my Passions and My Dreams
to Avoid Crashing and Spiraling into Depression (Relapse).
It is all about what the definition of RECOVERY really is. Are we willing to accept that definition?

@AquaCarb We can define flying as the same as swimming too, but the official definition as set by the National Institute of Mental Health is what is in the video. One of the problems with the recovery movement is that they promote the idea that recovery is whatever anyone says it is. With such a definition we have people claiming to be "in recovery" while in the middle of a crisis. Nonetheless, I have never heard anyone claim recovery does not include symptom reduction.

I used to think that I could "Ride Out" my highs and lows and make the most of them (especially getting things done when I felt good that I could not do when I felt depressed). But over time I came to accept that I was not in full control when I was hyper or manic and that I was not in control when I was overwhelmed with Anxiety and Depression. So I learned to avoid things that bothered me and I learned to avoid things that made me hyper or manic. Now I avoid everything and wonder why I am here.

@GHDrumBum Thanks for your comments. The prevailing belief is that we should avoid all states because we cannot ever control them. They are wrong. The problem is nobody is teaching us how to control them and instead are only saying we should avoid life. We do teach how and have gotten incredible results that prove we are right. You can learn to control your states. If you check out our website at the link above we will show you how.
