Maybe it's not the apocalypse after all, but a lot of New Jersey is without power today. Still, the snowmen kind of make up for it. For central New Jersey, a snowstorm like this, in late October is decidely peculiar, to say the least, and the storm took down a lot of branches that had yet to shed their leaves, which is probably where all the power outages came from.

To contradict the subtitle, I did get a call while I was rendering this to let me know that power was still out at my ex's house, so the girls will be here today to charge their laptops and get the homework done they couldn't do in the dark. Wondering whether school will happen tomorrow, though, with power outages expected to last into Monday.

  • it was easy making a snowman with that snow...and we had no power for six days.

  • such crazy weather these Days thanks for posting

  • @anmoose Exactly. This has happened several times in the past few years, though only sometimes with snow added to the mix. Fortunately we do have a lot of trees in most areas, though it can be a heartbreaker for those with fairly recent construction, whose trees were just beginning to verge on mature. Locally we were pretty lucky, most neighbors got power back midday Sunday. But reports this morning were still citing over 2 mil outages over the Northeast, some expected to last several more days

  • Well at least they seem to be on top of clearing the streets. But the power outages are horrendous, from what I'm hearing. Down here in hurricane country, I'm prepared with a generator in the garage that can run the house, but up there, this is just NOT natural. I think the real clincher is that the trees had NOT defoliated yet, and those leaves collected every ounce of it like a platter. A very heavy platter...

  • it is definitely the end of October :)
