Expectations ~ An Artt Journal Page

Taking you on another artt journal journey while I vented some pain caused by someone very close to me. I have been trying hard to keep positive thoughts in the front of my mind through all of this but some people are so judgemental and harsh and right now that can really tear a person down. So here is a new page that freed me of some frustration.

I tried some new stuff in this page.

Again I wrote into my gesso while wet (it reads "STOP" and "my life" over and over) but this time after I had added layers of paint then I used the side of my charcoal to add darkness to the lower areas and it kind of rubbed away some of the paint on the raised areas making the text I added show more.

I also added text directly to the gesso layer this time instead of adding it to a paint or paper layer. I like the effect it left giving me a lot of texture in the background but also visually leaving my frustration buried under a message to myself that I am only human and doing the best I can!

Then later I took a small cup (ok it wasn't a cup it was the top of a bubble gum machine toy container but hey! lol) and stirred my water soluable oil pastel in it til tinted. I then poured it in puddles around my page, used a paint brush to get more of the effect I wanted then let it dry.

I also used a circle cutout frame left over from my scrapbooking days and painted it black for the magnifying glass.

I stumbled upon this tonight and WOW... its like screaming out the same exact words that I've been screaming for over 2 years now. Long story but... this really hit hard and hit home for me. Love the way you did this! Thank you for sharing, its that knowledge that I'm not alone in the fight... even tho the details may be different the pain is the same!
