National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (臺灣民主紀念館)

Many Taiwanese still feel uncomfortable when they visit the newly renamed National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (formerly the Chiang Kai-Shek's Memorial Hall). If this huge tall structure is truly a "Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall", it should commemorate those who have indeed contributed to the democratization of Taiwan and those who have martyred by the foreign invading powers or by the local unjust authorities!

During Taiwan 228 Massacre in 1947 and also in the subsequent 38 years of Taiwan white-terro era (1949/5/20-1987/7/15), the KMT Party-led ROC regime has butchered/executed thousands of Taiwan civilians and jailed more than fourteen thousands of political dissidents, mostly local Taiwanese. To date, a huge Chiang Kai-Shek's statue is still the only statue in this tall National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall in the capital city of Taiwan.

In very truth, "He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous; Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

[轉貼文] 那天,我們並沒有踏入現已更名為台灣民主紀念館的裡面遊覽，只選擇在廣場前觀看許多灰色鴿子自由的覓食和飛翔。

在寒冷的冬日，雖有著溫暖的陽光，看這裡的景色總有些悽涼，這些鴿子和我們一樣都不願意踏入這個還是極度蔑視臺灣人民自主權利的廣場裡面，也許這些鴿子都是那些60年來幾­乎被臺灣人民遺忘的許多228和白色恐怖期間死難者的化身，(當然也許是這一大片全佈滿硬石頭地面之紀念館的環境設計只適合給帝王當陵寢地或朝拜皇帝用，和自然生態是很難­相容的！)

願 全數在中國國民黨威權統治時期、228大屠殺、以及日據年代遭害者的受難和冤屈，他們的姓名以及當時參與保衛家園的事蹟全都能昭彰於世，好讓他們漂泊的靈魂得以安息。還有­，當我們在談論臺灣人民遭受近代外來政權壓迫的同時，也願 不要忘記還給台灣原住民族應有的公道及對其文化之尊重。

臺灣人民爭取自主、人權、公義和尊嚴的道路真的還很漫長嗎？

To gzsunny99: Taiwan is still governed by a small bunch of people who make use of the foreign KMT regime exiled in Taiwan. After more than 60 years of KMT ruling in Taiwan, all younger generations in Taiwan do not even know the evil (or if any good) of that expired CKS!

If you do know how well CKS had taken care of your ancestors and you, you (and perhaps all the ruling members of Ma's regime) should worship him in your own house!

Never impose on other Taiwanese to worship your own idols!
