Floridita Restaurant, 3219 Broadway corner of 129th Street, take the 1 train to 125th Street! 212-662-0090

Ramon and Suzannah met at the Columbia University demonstration protesting Columbia University's abuse of NYU. Suzannah feels simpatico because NYU destroyed life as she knew by mega dorming the East Village to death and the last straw was the tear down of St. Ann's next door to her at 120 East 12th Street that was part of a series of disturbing events including the USPS that owned the air rights and was also a bad next door neighbor -- she doesn't live there anymore.

Ramon and Suzannah take in the delicous smells and diverse crowd that regular dine at Floridita including Columbia University students to talk about this tsunami of community crushing development brought on by the Bloomberg administration that has forever changed so many lives....visit this amazing diner as Ramon continues to fight with hold outs in a David Goliath battle with Columbia University much like David Goldstein and his neighbors fighting Ratner's eminent domain abuse or Willets Point in Queens.

Listen, agree or disagree on the politics but the food and delicious food is not up for debate!

  • Columbia University is an asset to the community. Yeah, it sucks that your business has to go, but there are plenty of other locations that you can move to. There are vacant lots on 125th street. Why don't you move there and turn a bare lot into a useful restaurant.

  • Thanks for illustrating the point that it "sucks" but Columbia University, NYU, Cooper Union all could do a lot more for the community than they do. Nice p.r. and easy to move until someone uses the government or other tactics like a gun to your head to force you to move. Massive obscene real estate grabs = do the math. How much tax would they have to pay without tax shelter of higher ed. They could a lot more other than mass displacement.

  • Again...I ask, Why don't you move to a vacant lot on 125th street? Yes, I understand that it's easier to stay where you are, but do you think it's in the best interest?

Umm...since when did higher education become a bad thing?

I guess being poor and stupid is your way of life.

  • Can I ask you to move to a vacant lot? Why don't you move?

Please don't waste anymore of my time. I leave your comments up to illustrate the callousness of what you say and "sucks" is how you describe it. Don't bother coming to my YouTubes again. You had your say, underscored my point and there is no need to waste my time anymore. I hope you have to move because of eminent domain and you find a nice lot to move to - easy said far more difficult to live with. I hope you have to live it.

  • Columbia's expansion is a detriment to this community. It only benefits a privileged few who pass through this area for a few years. Floridita fed the people who actually live here. One of the most unique places anywhere in this neighborhood. Columbia is a just another greedy corporation looking out for their own interests, not the public's.

  • I would say Ramon is endangering himself by speaking out but the sad truth is he has nothing to lose by doing so.

If they want the land his restaurant sits on they'll get it.
