I WILL LIKE TO KNOW: i AM ON THE VERGE OF going to art school but dont know which one: simply want the best one whos gonna teach all the techniques of paintings that it is to learn. dont care about the history of painting as i already read about it. ANYONE AS TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT OCAD LEARNING TOOLS ON PAINTING PROCESS? Is there a big difference if i go to OCAD instead of Emily Carr? I tough about OCAD plus the Realistic School in the evening. Please help.

I'm in second year GD at OCAD, and my advice to those of you looking to apply; read over the portfolio requirements for your course and go to a portfolio seminar. Also, look into co-op programs and ask professionals about their jobs.

you got it, but they (the judges) want to see that you are right for the program you are applying for.. not just to see if you are creative. Don't try to impress them by bringing in big works, (and in the presentation day dont panic when you see people carrying huge canvases, the judges arent impressed by that) Frankly I saw people carriying huge portfolio bags 30"x30" .. all i had was 15 of my works on letter size in a plain folder, and they loved it. I got accepted twice actually.. lol
