The Importance of Kelp in Bodybuilding Nutrition.

By Lee Milligan Jr The recovery process is one of the most often overlooked aspects of strength training and bodybuilding. The ol saying you grow out of the gym not in it rings true when it comes to proper recovery and growth. Blair most often spoke about being in an overtrained state that causes harmfull affects that can be detrimental towards your health and muscle growth processes. With that in mind let us move on to proper nutritional knowledge. Kelp is a wonderful nutriment that should be part of your nutritional regimin. Kelp contains many vitamins and chelated minerals that can contribute grealty towards your muscular recovery and rebuilding process. The Iodine and other minerals in Kelp contribute to proper glandular function most especially the Thyroid and Pituitary Gland. The Pituitary Gland is responsible for the release of Luteinizing Hormone which basically tells the human body to kick in natural Testosterone production. Kelp is one component that when combined with your overall nutritional program contributes greatly towards your bodybuilding and strength training success.

Please remember to always consult with your Doctor before starting any new supplement and training program.

  • Part 2.... I gained some major fat last year and can't lose it, and this was WHILE still working out, being active and being fairly careful with my diet (though my sleep is always an issue). Could kelp help?

    2) Are kelp tablets any good?

    3) What's the best "natural" source of kelp, and where to get it? Is it sea salt? Or this "granulated kelp" I see discussed here? Can I find the granulated kelp outside a health food store, e.g. normal grocery store?

    Thanks again man!!

  • @blingzip Hi Blingzip. Yes Kelp does contribute but remember this is just a part of the overall whole of nutrition. Correction of deficiency is the key. Kelp helps to regulate the Thyroid gland which in turn helps keep the body's metabolism in check. I have tried a few different brands. Parkelp is granulated and is pretty good. I currently use Starwest Botanicals Organic Kelp. I wish you the best with your goals.

  • hey dude wats up?? im a swimmer that jas been in pian for the last 1yr. i dont know if its related 2 my diet. i eat alot of meat and bread. not alot of fruits and vegtables. im always sleep and tired. my ,muscles take long 2 heal. wat should i do. i just started taking vitmain pills. and by the way im 22 WITH HIGH BLOOD PRUSSER. do u believe that lol. wat should i do? thx

  • First you should consult with your doctor concerning your high blood pressure. I remember reading that Rheo Blair stated that meat alone will not build you up. You must have Milk and Eggs plus a good sound nutritional program. All of my tips at the Blair website listed will provide a strong base program. The rest will depend on your body and how it responds to such. I wish you well.

  • You can buy celtic brand sea salt from your local health food store such as whole foods. This particular salt is granulated kelp and is a very optimal alternative to regular salt as it has the daily iodine and other minerals we need as well as being low sodium. And you can use it on all the meals you cook such as chicken, eggs, etc..hope this helps

  • Sounds good . : ) I tried Parkelp once. This was in a granulated form. It worked pretty good. The brand I currently use is in a powdered form which seems to work ok. Powdered form would probably mix better in a shake but either one will work just fine.

  • I tried to take kelp tablets and they just made me feel sick......

  • @Leemil9 Thanks Leemil9. I'm especially interested in what you say about kelp being good for recovery from exercise. That's something good for me to bear in mind.

  • Thanks for this Leemil9. Never knew kelp had a role in recovery from workouts -and that's been a major issue for me for some time now! I often seem to go into over-reaching/overtraining -without ACTUALLY over-reaching or overtraining!! i.e. the work that I do isnt excessively hi volume or hi frequency, or not too high intensity. Seeing your slides I'd like to try adding in some kelp. Few questions:

    1) What's the word on kelp for fat loss.? (see more in part 2.....)

  • @trainer1x LMAO!!! people have turned into sheeple so they BUY into doctors or butchers... since they both wear the same EXACT type of lab coat....PEACE!!!

  • @zyruemusic - Damn, while reading this comment I had to hurry and check the name bcz I thought it was me who wrote it!! Damn straight!!! Fuck-o-doc! Except when you said (Accute situations injuries etc...)! Words to live by!

  • Get Kelp from the coldest seas. Norwegian, Iceland.... far away from industrialization.

    That way you avoid arsenics
