Alma Mater is a term used by Fernando Pessoa (the Author of one of the 5 epic poems ever written, called "Mensagem") meaning the union of the portuguese ppl beyond borders and diferences. Alma Mater would be the union factor. That's in the portuguese part of the lyrics they sing "Turning our backs to the world, pridely alone, old glory come back to us, Alma Mater"
