  • It is a nice gun to shoot with (thanks for the day out shooting btw). I'll have to wait for about five more months before I can buy my first 22. I'm looking at two guns that are within my price range. The S&W 22 A-1 and the Colt 1911 .22 Gold Cup. Until it's time to choose one of them I'm doing my best with an Unique to get those bronze, silvers and golds coming up. And it's going quite well ;-)

  • @Poppezai You're welcome, it was fun having you along! Glad to hear it's going well for you! Where did you find a Colt 1911 .22 btw?

  • Northland Shooter, Thanks for the reply. No legal problems with removing the disconnect though there appear to be varying opinions about the best way to do this.

  • @WOLRuss1 I think you might be best off buying the parts from the MK ll that didn't have a magazine disconnect safety and installing them in your MK lll atleast that's what I would do. Seems alot better reliability-wise rather then using washers or spacers from the hardware store.

  • Ref: Ruger Mk. III 22/45 pistol:

Will the Volquartsen hammer bushing fit in a Mk.III IF the magazine disconnect parts have been removed?

I got an "our parts are made for the Mk.III" response from Volquartsen but wonder if they just don't want to take sides on the disconnect removal question.

Ideally I'd like to remove the disconnect parts and put in the V. bushing, sear and a Wilson steel trigger.

  • @WOLRuss1 I'm not that good with the internals of the Ruger to know the answer to your question. I do not like the magazine disconnect safety personally because it interferes at magazine removal as well as being a unnecessary and potentially dangerous safety mechanism. If you're thinking of removing it I can only advice you to check with your local laws and regulations that it is ok to alter or remove a firearms safety.

  • ruger 10/22 and mark III are both safe to dry fire because of the firing pin stop in the bolt

  • @NorthlandShooter I searched the web for cal 22 pistols and found some videos on Youtube. Haven't found so much info about it elsewhere, but I'm searching almost continuosly ;-)

  • I'm 11 and I shoot this gun every sunday

  • Checking the chamber should be built into your brain... if someone got this gun for a 1st gun and got used to that stupid thing and NOT checking the chamber, god only knows what would happen if they bought a second gun without that stupid thing! It's like voice control on your phone or something... for lazy fucks! Good review man!

  • @AkimboLizard I can understand im 15 and I'm on my high school rifle team.

  • @UmmNotQuiteSureToPut I'm just 14, don't have many options. It's usable it's just compared to a P22 it just seems odd

  • @AkimboLizard If you hate it, why don't you change competitions?
