Jordanian Christians welcomed the pope with the kefiah, the traditional way in which they receive guests in that country.

Benedict received the gift while visiting a rehabilitation center for the physically and mentally handicapped run by the Catholic church for people of all religions.

He was greeted by hundreds of young people that sang to him in Arabic and Italian

Pope
ORIG. ENGLISH
I come simply with an intention, a hope: to pray for the precious gift of unity and peace, most specifically for the Middle East. Peace for individuals, for parents and children, for communities, peace for Jerusalem, for the Holy Land, for the region, peace for the entire human family.

There are some 110,000 Catholics in Jordan, a mere 2% of the countrys population. Though Jordan is officially an Islamic country, Christmas is observed as a holiday.

  • Long live the Pope!

  • @dinavienna You don't know what you are talking about. The new Nazis are the proponents of the Patriot Act, spying on the American people, referring to returning Iraqi veterans as "potential terrorists", and destroying the Bill of Rights.

  • Why are there two Top Comments with the same amount of likes that say the same thing?

  • Wow i love Jordan , Christmas observed as Holiday

  • peace be upon the pope and the christinity in jordan.viva viva

  • الحمدالله علي نعمه الاسلام

اللهم ثبتني علي دينك حتي القاك

  • @conceil8 What did you take?

  • That guy basically, remorseful, told of his time as a "Nazi" (announced big time by the host) to then go on and chastize US abortion laws as a new "Holocaust". Well the guy was in HJ, nothing more. Scary Nazi, he is ;)

  • @baroqueboy is the comment you originally replied to gone?

I just wanted to add - being in the Hitler Youth (boys) or "Union of German Girls"(Bund Deutscher Mädchen - BDM) was mandatory - some parents refused to, but this meant rendering oneself VERY suspicious and vulnerable to harassment by officials and authorities.

So reproaching to someone he was in HJ shows stunning lack of knowledge of what one is talking about.. the other day I say a former "Nazi" on a US evangelical program.

  • @ChambersofHeart Why don't your Ayatolhas convert, or whatever their names are, who have your populations in complete ignorance and in oppression (which benefits them) and I quote Salazar, Portuguese dictator (inteligent people are impossible to govern).
